Terrifying Dog Attacks Continue to Plague NSW: Toddler Airlifted to Hospital After Savage Mauling as Killer Canine Remains on the Loose
- A two-year-old child has been rushed to hospital with horrific facial injuries after being attacked by a rampaging dog on the NSW Central Coast.
- The toddler was airlifted to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition, but the dog remains at large, sparking widespread fear in the community.
- This shocking incident comes just a day after two adults and a boy were attacked by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier-Mastiff cross in the NSW Hunter Region, and a week after a 66-year-old woman was mauled by two dogs while walking past a club.
- As the number of dog attacks in NSW continues to rise, residents are calling for urgent action to be taken to prevent further tragedies.
In a harrowing scene, emergency services were called to Bolton St in Bateau Bay about 5.30pm on Tuesday after reports of a toddler being attacked by a dog. Paramedics treated the child for facial injuries before a CareFlight helicopter landed at nearby Pat Morley Oval to airlift the toddler to hospital.
Central Coast Council has launched an investigation into the incident and vowed to “take appropriate action as required”. However, the dog remains on the loose, leaving residents in a state of panic.
This latest attack comes as the community is still reeling from a series of brutal dog attacks in the region. Just a day prior, two adults and a boy were attacked by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier-Mastiff cross in the NSW Hunter Region. The dog was described as “on the loose attacking people” and was reported to have attacked a couple who were walking along the street.
Last week, a 66-year-old woman was mauled by two dogs while walking past The Entrance Club. The woman suffered serious injuries to her legs and had to undergo a number of surgeries at Gosford Hospital. Her daughter, Kylie Brooks, told 2GB that her mother thought the dogs were friendly at first, but they suddenly turned on her.
“She’s a small lady, incredibly active, this has just destroyed her,” Ms Brooks said. The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for tougher laws to be introduced to prevent dog attacks.
