In a shocking home invasion, a grandmother was held at gunpoint by four armed intruders who stormed her property in the Gold Coast hinterland, sparking a terrifying ordeal that has left her fearing for her life.
The chilling incident, which was captured on CCTV footage, shows the men – armed with a sawn-off shotgun, a baseball bat, and a hammer – jumping the front fence of the property in Mount Tambourine on November 22.
The 61-year-old victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, described the harrowing moment when the intruders smashed through her window and pointed a gun at her head. ‘Smashed that window right in front of me and just within two seconds they were through that window and had the gun to my head,’ she recounted.
Despite her dog, Batman, attempting to protect her by biting one of the intruders on the leg, the men continued their rampage, ransacking the home for approximately 40 minutes in search of drugs. ‘They were swearing at me and calling me, “where’s the f**k drugs” – they clearly came for drugs and had the wrong house,’ the victim revealed.
The intruders eventually fled the scene in a silver Chrysler, taking cash and alcohol with them, but not before poisoning Batman with tainted food. ‘He’s OK but he was spewing up everything the next day and I found chicken out on the ground with stuff all over it,’ the grandmother said.
The traumatic experience has left the victim feeling vulnerable and fearful in her own home. ‘Not good at all. Can’t stay home by myself at night,’ she admitted. ‘I am scared in my own home, they took that safe space away from me – something like that changes a person.’
With the investigation ongoing, the grandmother is urging the public to come forward with any information that may lead to the capture of the perpetrators. ‘I just don’t want this to happen to anybody else,’ she pleaded.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police or Crime Stoppers to help bring the thugs to justice.
