Ms Cowan was found lying on the grass in a pool of blood with dog bites all over her body. Her husband tried to stop her bleeding and protect her from further attack, but it was too late.

The dogs, who had a history of terrorising the community, had inflicted fatal injuries on the mother-of-two. “It was brutal.

Seeing the same woman I’ve loved for the last 25 to 30 years just ripped apart by two animals was just … I’ll never get that image out of my mind,” Mr Smith said.

The attack has raised serious concerns about community safety and the failure of law enforcement to address the threat posed by the dogs.

Neighbours had reportedly complained about the pit bulls on multiple occasions, with one resident even trapping them in their vehicle for 30 minutes while the duo surrounded their car.

Another neighbour had called animal control with concerns and even bought pepper spray for protection.

Security analysts say the incident highlights the need for stricter laws and regulations around dangerous dog breeds. “This tragic incident is a wake-up call for authorities to take action against owners of dangerous dogs,” said one expert.

“Communities have a right to feel safe, and it’s the responsibility of law enforcement to ensure that happens.”

Analysis: What This Means for Australia

The attack has significant implications for Australia, where there have been several high-profile cases of dog attacks in recent years.

The incident raises questions about the effectiveness of current laws and regulations around dangerous dog breeds and the need for greater education and awareness about dog safety.

Law enforcement insiders warn that the threat posed by dangerous dogs is real and requires a proactive approach to prevent such tragedies from occurring.

Industry observers believe that the incident highlights the need for a national approach to dog safety, including stricter laws and regulations around dangerous breeds. “This incident is a stark reminder of the dangers posed by certain breeds of dogs,” said one expert.

“It’s time for a national conversation about dog safety and the measures needed to prevent such tragedies from occurring.”

As the community mourns the loss of Jodi Cowan, her husband Donnell is left to pick up the pieces and wonder what could have been done to prevent the tragedy.

“My wife lost her life because of it,” he said, referring to the inaction of authorities. The incident is a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of inaction and the need for a proactive approach to community safety.
