A teenage girl was attacked by a shark at the Bargara Beach in Queensland on Friday.
She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Paramedics were called to the scene after the incident happened at Fred Courtice Ave.
It’s believed the shark only bit the girl for a short amount of time before letting go.
The girl was then taken to the surf club, where medical assistance was provided. A call was made to the paramedics at around 4 pm.
According to Matthew Davenport, an operations supervisor for the Queensland Ambulance Service, the young woman was brought to the club’s treatment room.
He said the girl had been bitten on the right side of her stomach and on the right side of her buttocks.
Although the injuries were not life-threatening, the incident caught the girl by surprise.
She was calm and remained shocked by the incident. Her parents also arrived at the scene.
According to Mr Davenport, the incident took place in Wide Bay, which is not known for its shark attacks.
The girl was then taken by ambulance to a hospital in Bundaberg.
