This week more than a dozen workers of a Zoom meeting told the company that they were no longer employed.
Everyone was immediately terminated, one of the employees said.
The following day, the company, which was based in NSW, filed for voluntary administration.
The company, which was known as Main Industries, was based in Sydney and provided trade services in the construction industry.
It mainly handled projects for the NSW government, such as the courthouse and school upgrades.
According to Mohammad Najjar, the administrator of the company, creditors are owed over seven million dollars.
George Bancs, the company’s sole director, said that the company had to close due to the state government’s decision to terminate its contracts with it.
However, a spokesperson for the government denied this claim.
Some of the company’s workers were left out of pocket after Mr. Bancs failed to pay them for their superannuation.
In addition, he was spotted driving a luxury car and wearing designer clothes.
Bancs, as the sole director, owed the most to the company’s 15 workers, who are collectively owed $262,000.
A total of 37 unsecured creditors are also owed money.
