In a statement, KIIS FM host Kyle Sandilands revealed that he had been honored to present a major award to Robert Irwin.
The wildlife warrior was named as the top broadcast talent in Australia, besting the likes of Dr Chris Brown, Andy Lee, Hamish Blake, and Kitty Flanagan.
He also topped the list of male entertainers in the country in a market research study.
The recognition for Irwin comes after a survey of 7000 Australians revealed that he is one of the country’s most popular personalities.
He has also presented on Seven’s “Sunrise” and is set to co-host the upcoming season of “I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.”
The presenter of KIIS FM’s “Kyle and Jackie O Show” was stunned by the recognition given to Irwin.
He referred to the wildlife icon as a sympathy vote. He also took a swipe at his co-host, Jackie Henderson, who was named the most likable personality in the country by the talent index.
When asked about his fans’ recognition, Irwin said it was hard to understand.
Although he’s just started a new role as a television presenter, he has built a massive following on Instagram, with over 5.5 million followers.
In a statement, Irwin said it was an honor to be acknowledged as the most popular personality in the country.
Being acknowledged is very humbling for me, as it shows that people still care about me and my work.
I’m also grateful to be able to share important messages with the world. On the other hand, Home and Away’s Georgie Parker was named the top female talent in the country.
