Blake Lively, an actress best known for her role in “Gossip Girl,” issued an apology after she made a tasteless joke about Prince William’s wife, Catherine, earlier this week.
The 42-year-old royal revealed on Friday that she was diagnosed with cancer.
In a statement, Catherine said that she was informed by her doctors that she should undergo treatment for her cancer.
She said that she and her husband were doing everything they could to manage her condition privately.
Since she has not been able to carry out royal duties due to her illness, speculation about her has been continuously growing.
This week’s controversy started after Buckingham Palace released a picture of Catherine with her three children, including Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Louis, for Mother’s Day. It was then revealed that the picture was photoshopped.
In response, Lively posted a picture of herself on Instagram, which she captioned, “Just got back from shooting some new @bettybuzz and @bettybooze products and I am so excited to share them with you all.”
The post, which was later deleted from her Instagram account, showed a photo of herself that was photoshopped.
In addition to an odd thumb, the image also featured a faulty chair and a lemon falling from the sky. Following Kate’s cancer diagnosis, she apologized on her Instagram page.
In her statement, Lively said that she was sorry for the joke she made. She added that she was embarrassed by how her post about the “photoshop fails” frenzy had been interpreted.
She had been the target of criticism since Kate’s announcement about her illness.
