People who rely on Centrelink are advised to be aware of upcoming payment and closure changes due to the Easter holidays.
According to Services Australia, some of its call centers and service centres will be closed from March 29 to April 1. This will affect the reporting and payment dates.
In a statement, Services Australia said that it would be providing assistance to help people plan their financial future and ensure that they receive their entitlements during the closures.
Some of the changes that will affect these individuals include the age pension, parenting payment, disability support pension, and Youth Allowance.
This week, around 5 million Centrelink beneficiaries will receive an increase in their payments as a result of the government’s twice-yearned indexing.
Due to the Easter holidays, the payment and reporting dates for this period will be different. You can check the status of your Centrelink account by going to your account’s website.
You can also check the changes by visiting the Services Australia website. If you’re planning on reporting early, the agency noted that you must provide details about the amount of money that you expect to receive for the entire reporting period. Even if Centrelink is closed, you can still report your earnings online. The agency also said that it will pay you after the holidays if you do so on a public holiday.
If you’re not required to report to receive your Centrelink payment, the agency noted that it will pay you early. It said that it won’t delay your payments due to the public holiday, but it will do so as soon as possible.
