A grandfather and father drowned in a hotel pool in Surfers Paradise while trying to save their relatives who got into trouble in the water.
It’s believed that a two-year-old girl fell into the pool at around 6:30 pm on Sunday.
Her mother then tried to save her, but she couldn’t swim. The child’s grandfather and father then drowned as they tried to help her.
While the child and her mother were able to get back to safety, the older man and the father drowned.
Emergency services were then called to the hotel’s pool and found the two men unconscious.
They were both reportedly on holiday from Victoria. Both men died due to lack of vital signs.
A doctor and paramedics were then called to the scene, but they could not revive them.
According to Mitchell Ware, a spokesperson for the Queensland Ambulance Service, the incident was an emotional scene.
Multiple paramedics were also called to the scene on March 31.
They attended the scene after reports of two drownings in a pool at a house on the 700 block of Orchid Avenue.
Two men in their 60s and one in his 30s were taken to a critical condition after they were found unconscious.
A report on the incident will be submitted to the coroner.
