According to the Queensland Police, an 84-year-old patient died after being assaulted at Hervey Bay Hospital.
A second patient, who was also an elderly individual, used a walking stick to kill an 84-year-old individual from the town of Exeter on March 24.
The elderly victim from Exeter died on March 26. It’s believed that he was assaulted by a man in his 70s while he was sleeping on a hospital ward bed.
The Courier Mail reported that the man was a dementia patient at the hospital.
The Wide Bay Health Service would not comment on the incident, but it offered its condolences.
The health service expressed its condolences to the victim’s family and the staff members who were affected by the incident.
It noted that it has zero tolerance for violence in the workplace.
