The troubled past of Joel Cauchi, who carried out the mass murder in Sydney’s Westfield Bondi Junction, has been revealed following disturbing new revelations.
The 40-year-old from Queensland reportedly had a fixation for blades and once called the police after his parents hid his knives.
It’s believed that Cauchi was upset after his parents hid his weapons. He then called the police to report a domestic violence incident.
The police in Queensland did not take any action after finding no evidence of a domestic violence incident.
When asked if Cauchi had called the cops on his family because they took away his weapons, an official from the force said that they knew about an incident in 2023.
The police are also looking into another incident that occurred in 2023.
It involves Cauchi’s interactions with health practitioners and his recent movements in NSW. Mr Lowe said that these details are part of the investigation into his behavior and why he carried out the horrific attack.
The police were also aware of an incident in early 2023 involving Cauchi and his family.
However, he has not been charged with any crime and was not found with any knives. It was earlier reported that Cauchi’s family was expecting him to return to his home this week to look after their pigeons.
According to one of his neighbors, Cauchi enjoys looking at the sky and waving at the birds with a stick, which makes them fly around him. He was often referred to as a “backpacker” by his father.
According to Carol, a neighbor, Cauchi’s son was a well-behaved kid who got on a bus pass to travel around. At one point, the young man accompanied by other backpackers helped him weed the yard. Another neighbor described Cauchi as a family-oriented individual.
She described Cauchi as a kind and family-oriented individual who was close to his parents. However, she noted that he had mental health issues. She also said that Cauchi’s parents did talk about his issues. However, she believed that they did not think that something like this would happen.
