The bus driver who helped save the lives of passengers after a fatal accident near Dubbo was praised by the police.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning, when officers responded to a call about a domestic dispute. A man died during the pursuit.
When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a Mazda that was being driven by an individual involved in the argument.
They tried to pull over the car, but the driver kept going. The pursuit lasted for a couple of minutes before the police decided to call it quits.
The police noted that the vehicle was driving dangerously and going through the wrong side of the road.
It eventually decided to terminate the pursuit. Despite the decision, the officers still tried to stop the car.
The car eventually collided with a bus. The bus’s 54 passengers were lucky to survive the incident.
According to the police, the bus driver did what she could to avoid an accident. She and seven of her passengers were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The police noted that they were lucky no one else was seriously injured.
The injured passengers were taken to the hospital for treatment, and they are expected to be released soon. A team from the Critical Incident Investigation Unit was dispatched to the scene to assist the local police.
The man who died during the incident was identified as a 30-year-old from Western NSW. The police are still trying to determine the exact cause of the incident. They will also look into the actions of the officers involved in the pursuit.
A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance said that paramedics assessed 26 patients, who ranged in age from 10 to 80. Eight of them were taken to a local hospital. A police representative said that the officers were trying to stop the Mazda sedan when the incident occurred.
The Chifley District’s Critical Incident Team will look into the incident and determine what happened. An independent investigation will then be carried out, and a report submitted to the coroner.
