A mum from Australia was horrified to find a strange object inside her daughter’s dollhouse set, which was purchased from Kmart.
The item, which she didn’t notice, was a yellow scale.
The six-piece bathroom set included a sink, toilet, a bathtub, a shower mat, and a plunger.
In a TikTok video, the user known as Ms Navybox stated that she probably wouldn’t teach her daughter about the importance of using scales in her bathroom.
While it was once common in Australia for people to use scales, it has gradually become a relic due to the increasing number of eating disorders and the removal of BMI as a health indicator.
The comments on the video shared the stories of people who grew up with scales in their bedroom, and it affected their mental health.
One person noted that it ruined their lives. Another user stated that their family had never kept scales, and one of them had acquired one during an eating disorder battle.
One person stated that it started at home, and they would rather be safe than ruin their children’s lives.
Others said it was unnecessary to throw the item away, and they suggested painting it or making a pizza box out of it.
Some said they would use kitchen scales, while others said they would use bathroom scales.
