After winning a fishing tournament, Keegan Payne, 19, from the Northern Territory, said he would like to thank his old boss.
He caught a large barramundi on Sunday, which was worth a million dollars.
During an interview with Peter Stefanovic on Wednesday morning, the host of Sky News asked the teenager about a report that he and his friends stole a couple of Polaris quads and a Polaris Ranger.
The young man, who appeared genuinely remorseful, said that he and his companions didn’t think about what they had done at the time.
He also stated that he would like to apologize to the owner of the business.
After winning the tournament, the young man said he would like to thank the owner of the business, Bob Cavanagh.
He also expressed his regret and said he would like to return the items that he stole.
In a surprising twist, the former boss revealed that he had received an offer of compensation from the young man on Wednesday.
According to the Daily Mail Australia, the father of the young man called Bob and said that his son wanted to return the items he stole.
Mr. Cavanagh said he had no hard feelings toward Keegan, who he described as a good kid. He said the theft was a one-off mistake by the young man.
He said that people shouldn’t carry grudges throughout their lives. “There’s no point in holding grudges,” he said.
