A four-year-old boy from Afghanistan named Ali Aminzadah was reportedly very fun-loving and had a big smile.
Unfortunately, he drowned in a swampland in Melbourne’s southeast on Sunday afternoon.
He was staying with his family in Officer. According to La Trobe MP Jason Woods, the death of the child is a devastating blow to the Afghanistan community.
We must remember the emergency services personnel who responded to the incident.
In a statement released by the family, they said that Ali was visiting his relatives in Officer when he went missing.
The spokesperson also noted that the child had started kindergarten and was very active.
Shortly after Ali went missing, emergency services were called to the Lagoon Row area.
Unfortunately, the child was later found dead. His death is not being considered suspicious.
A report will be submitted to the coroner.
