A woman from Cairns, Australia, named Alice Raspin, asked on TikTok how people can afford to look after themselves.

She noted that she has a job, a child, and a combined income of around $180,000.

She wondered how people could afford to get their brows, lashes, and nails done.

Due to Australia’s housing and cost-of-living crisis, many people are unable to afford to rent or buy homes.

According to the Bureau of Statistics, the country’s inflation rate has increased by 3.6 percent in the first quarter of 2019. Food prices are also rising.

Although she’s currently living in a small city in North Queensland, Ms Raspin noted that she doesn’t feel that she can afford to live in Melbourne or Sydney, which are both talked about as expensive. According to Core Logic, the median rent in Cairns has increased by over 30% since March 2020.

According to the mum, her partner and I are currently working towards buying a home, which we aim to do by July next year, and she only has $150 left to spend. She noted that they have a strict budget, and they only have $150 left to spend.

She stated that getting her nails done every month would cost around $100, while going to the hairdressers for her hair regrowth costs around $200. On the other hand, getting her brows done would cost around $170, and this includes the sculpting, dye, and lamination process.

The monthly expenses for these services would amount to around $370, which is significantly more than the amount she had planned for. The young mum stated that she doesn’t want to live a lavish lifestyle, but she needs money to maintain her self-care. Currently, she wants to be able to get her lashes and eyebrows done by a local hairdresser.
