An activist and parent wants a local football team to serve vegan options at its post-game BBQ. Sheena Chhabra, whose son attends the Auskick football club, said that she asked the organization to remove all meat from its menu.
According to her, she doesn’t believe that it’s necessary to serve meat at an event, so she suggested replacing the regular sausages with vegan ones.
The South Melbourne football club did not respond to the mum’s query regarding the availability of vegan options at its post-game BBQ.
Some clubs are open to accommodating modern tastes, but they will only serve up options that the fans prefer.
Richard, a member of one of the clubs, said that they would serve up vegan sausages if the fans requested them.
Sheena, who is a vegan, stated that modern methods of butchery are cruel. She said that kids would be asking for such options if they knew about these realities.
She noted that bacon and beef are classified as carcinogens.
