In an interview, actor Jeremy Renner opened up about the accident that almost killed him during his first film shoot after returning to work.
The incident occurred a year ago, when he was trying to save his nephew, who was being crushed by a massive snowplow at Lake Tahoe.
The accident left the actor with over 30 broken bones and a collapsed lung. He was then taken to the hospital.
According to him, working on the set will never be the similar for him due to his limited physical capabilities.
He noted that upon returning to work on the set of “Mayor of Kingstown,” his colleagues acted like he was a child actor instead.
He also said that he sometimes fell asleep during the first week of filming.
He noted that the crew worked him too hard and insisted on doing everything in one go
. He was unsure of his ability to return to work, so his mother was asked by the film’s co-creator Hugh Dillon to allow him to go back.
He said he wanted to create a truth out of the accident so that the audience would believe it. He was also trying to avoid getting up in pain.
As he recovered from his accident, Renner started to consider taking on a role that was fictional.
However, he admitted that he had to ask himself if he wanted to do it. To accommodate his recovery, the movie’s production team modified the schedule to allow him to take breaks.
He also thanked his family and medical team for their support during his time of need.
He said that he was able to recover because of the collective strength of his family, friends, and medical team. He noted that he was still alive and was walking around with a smile on his face.
