Josie Dooley, a professional Australian cricket player, was evacuated from Hawaii after suffering a stroke.
She was then taken to a hospital in Brisbane, where she underwent neurosurgical treatment.
The 24-year-old player for the Melbourne Renegades and the South Australia state team was scheduled to return home after the operation.
A statement released by the South Australian cricket association on Monday revealed that Dooley was still in hospital and receiving treatment.
The statement noted that on April 15, she had a stroke while she was on the island of Kauai, and she was immediately airlifted to a medical facility in Honolulu for neurosurgical care.
Following the operation, Josie was placed in an intensive care unit for 18 days at Queen’s Hospital in Honolulu
. She was then transferred to a neurosurgical ward, where she remained for another 12 days. After being cleared to fly, she was taken back to her hometown of Brisbane, where she was readmitted to the hospital.
In the statement, the cricket association noted that Josie is making progress and thanked her teammates and family for their support.
She was able to make 285 runs in 11 matches during the 2017-2018 domestic one-day competition.
