A popular restaurant in Sydney, which has been serving up French cuisine for three years, is set to close due to a “wrecking ball.”
The bistrot 916, which is located in Potts Point, will be demolished to make way for a new development.
The restaurant’s three co-owners posted a message on Instagram, stating that they will be “ceasing operations to accommodate the impending real estate development.”
In the message, the restaurant’s co-owners, including chef Dan Pepperell, sommelier Andy Tyson, and Mike Clift, asked their customers to celebrate their last dinner before the restaurant is demolished.
The restaurant’s co-owners thanked their customers for their support and said they would like to send their deepest gratitude to their staff members.
They have also opened two other restaurants in Sydney, namely Pellegrino 2000 and the New York-style restaurant, The Clam Bar.
The customers of the restaurant expressed their sadness and asked the co-owners to relocate the business.
Many of them said they were outraged by the decision to demolish the restaurant and argued that the city should not be rid of everything that brings joy.
One of the customers commented on the post and thanked the restaurant for its delicious food.
The bistrot 916 has not responded to requests for comment.
