The family that created the viral interspecies bond between a staffy and a magpie in Queensland revealed that they have been caring for a different bird.
Molly, an Instagram-famous magpie, was reunited with his friends Ruby and Peggy after he was returned from a 43-day quarantine.
On April 15, Molly was brought back to his owners, Reece Mortensen and Juliette Wells, on the Gold Coast.
He was then reunited with Peggy, his unlikely best friend. However, this week, the family revealed on their Facebook page that they also took in a new bird named Charlie.
According to the family, Charlie was taken in after a neighbour spotted him struggling due to the weather conditions in the previous year.
He was found alone and very young, and they were worried about him because of all the dangers he could face.
Due to the training that Reece was going through, he was able to bring the kookaburra back to his home.
Charlie, who was a little different from Molly, spent most of his time outside. He was also taken care of by his family.
The family kept Charlie outside as much as possible to allow the kookaburras to feed him.
They noted that at times, they counted 14 kookaburras watching him.
Although he was able to fly and achieve short distances, he needed to practice his landing technique.
It was an exciting moment for the family as they watched Molly, Ruby, Peggy, and Reece enjoy a successful year.
