Celebrity chef Adrian Richardson said that he will be closing his restaurant after more than 25 years in operation.
He told reporters that the rising cost of doing business in Melbourne had prompted him to end his restaurant’s operations.
La Luna will be serving its final meal on August 3, and he said that the lease renewal at his restaurant’s location was one of the factors that prompted him to close.
According to Richardson, the rising cost of doing business in Melbourne had prompted him to close his restaurant.
He noted that his insurance policy had gone from around $8000 to $15,000.
The rising cost of gas, food, and other expenses have also affected his business.
He said that he would happily work 60 hours per week, but nobody would do it now.
He praised the efforts of local chefs and noted that he had to spend a lot of money on a good chef to maintain his business.
Despite his various restaurants in Melbourne, such as the Bouvier Bar and the Geelong steakhouse Maestro, he still believed that Brisbane was the best place for hospitality.
He noted that Brisbane was a more vibrant and smaller city, and it was very different from Melbourne and Sydney.
However, he said that the hospitality industry needed to be more proactive in addressing the issues that it was experiencing.
He urged the industry to not “b**ch and whine” about the situation, but to instead “be a wolf”.
Despite the closure of La Luna, Richardson said that he was still holding out hope that the restaurant would still be able to continue operating.
The hospitality industry has been severely hit by the economic conditions in Australia.
According to a report released by the Australian Hospitality Industry Association, one in 13 businesses are expected to go bust next year due to the country’s cost of living.
