A customer of a prominent brunch spot in Sydney revealed how he spent $47 for a single dish.

He quickly defended his decision to spend the money after it was widely criticized online.

Mark, the creator of Breakfast Shirts, posted a TikTok clip of his experience at the restaurant known as Pina in Potts Point.

Located in the eastern part of Sydney, this establishment is known for its famous breakfast and lunch dishes, which are often requested by its customers as they line up outside the restaurant at weekends.

Mark opted for a steak and egg dish with three additional ingredients, which included hash brown, bacon, and avocado.

The hashbrown was $3, the avocado was $6, and the bacon was $4.50.

In the TikTok video, Mark said he was not ripping anyone off and merely asked for $47 for each plate.

He also noted that he paid $26 for a congee dish, and he and his friend split it.

The total bill for the two of them was almost $140, which included a weekend surcharge and three coffees.

Despite the high cost, Mark was still impressed by the restaurant’s food and service.

He noted that the breakfast was one of his favorite meals of the year, and it was not the most expensive meal he had ever paid for.

The high price was met with shock and disbelief by many online users. Some said they thought New Zealand was more expensive, while others claimed “That’s Sydney for you.”
