The renovation series The Block is currently filming in Phillip Island, in Victoria.
The new season of the show, which will only be aired once the Olympics are over, will feature contestants transforming a former resort into luxury homes.
Unfortunately, the anniversary season of the show has already been marred by the departure of a judge and the failure of some of the houses to sell at auction.
Rumors about the show’s longevity have been circulating recently. It has been reported that two of the show’s longest-serving regulars are quitting or are scaling back their participation
. Long-time judge Neale Whittaker recently announced that he was taking a break from the show to spend more time with David Noavk-Piper.
In his social media post, Whittaker revealed that he was hoping to be able to return to the show full-time this year.
However, due to various factors, he decided to step away from the show.
He will be replaced by Marty Fox, who was able to fill in for him last season. Foreman Keith also decided to reduce his involvement in the show due to his family and distance. Dan Reilly will take over the role of head foreman.
The Block was canceled in New Zealand ahead of its 11th season due to a restructuring at Warner Bros.
Discovery, the company that owns the Three network which airs the show. In the previous season, the show’s winners, Steph and Gian, received a record $1.75 million prize. However, the other contestants didn’t do well.
The last couple of contestants, Kristy and Brett, made a profit of only $65,000.
Meanwhile, Ash and Leah’s House 2 took almost five months to sell after it was passed in at auction.
In February, the property was purchased by the couple for $3.125 million.
The Block’s serial bidder, Adrian Portelli, purchased the home of Liberty and Eliza, but it later went back to them for a loss of over a million dollars.
The cancellation of “The Block” in New Zealand has caused some fans to wonder if the show has already run its course. They believe it might be the last season of the series.
Lysandra Fraser was the winner of the 2013 edition of The Block, along with her sister Alisa. She doubts that the show will continue.
