A young boy died after he was hit by a car at Central Queensland’s Rockhampton Showgrounds on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency services were then called to the scene.
The child, who was three years old, died shortly after paramedics arrived.
A woman, believed to be in her 40s, was taken to the hospital for treatment.
A spokesperson for the Queensland Police said the agency’s Forensic Crash Unit was handling the investigation.
The incident occurred just a week before the Rocky Show, which will be held on June 12.
