Jeff Kennett, a former Victorian Liberal Premier, criticized the decision to grant Daniel Andrews with a King’s Birthday award.
He called on David Hurley, the Governor-General, to rescind the honor.
In an article published on Monday, Mr. Kennett criticized Mr.
Andrews for failing to perform any community service and noted that he should rescind his Order of Australia award.
He urged the people of Victoria to write to Mr. Hurley and demand that he rescind it.
He noted that the people of Victoria would pay a heavy price for Mr. Andrews’ failure.
He was one of three prominent Labor politicians who received the award.
The other recipients were Mark McGowan, the former premier of West Australia, and Simon Crean, a former opposition leader.
Neil Mitchell, a former 3AW radio commentator, noted that he was not happy with Mr. Andrews’ award.
He said that the former Labor politician was a divisive figure and that it was fast-tracked.
Mitchell noted that many of the questions surrounding the award were related to Mr. Andrews’ actions during the Covid days, such as chasing elderly women out of parks.
He said that it was a slight to the people who were affected by his lockdown policies.
Despite being criticized for his lockdown policies, Mr. Andrews was still able to serve as the longest-serving Labor Premier in the history of Victoria.
He stepped down from his position in September 2023.
After leaving politics, Mr Andrews worked with Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest, a mining billionaire, through his consultancy.
