Pauline Hanson, the leader of One Nation, criticized Robert Irwin after the TV personality threatened legal action over her depiction of him in her YouTube cartoons.
In one of her videos, she mocks the Queensland Tourism campaign, which featured Irwin and Bluey.
The tour didn’t go as planned in Hanson’s cartoon, as Irwin got attacked by locals and ended up in a queue for rental property instead of a theme park.
The political cartoon is mainly focused on Queensland’s leaders.
Irwin’s lawyers sent a letter to the production team of the video, demanding that it be taken down.
In the letter, Zoe Naylor, a lawyer, stated that the cartoon was defamatory and warned that the company would be sued if it didn’t take down the video.
She also claimed that the use of Irwin’s image was unauthorized.
In response, Hanson told The Sunday Mail that Irwin needs to “lighten up”.
She noted that Steve Irwin, the late TV personality, would not have responded the same way.
According to her, the late icon would have probably had a laugh at her depiction of him. She also stated that the video was not about Robert Irwin.
According to Hanson, members of parliament are asked to appear in her cartoons, and she offered Irwin a free ride.
The tourism agency of Queensland claims that Bluey’s World, which will be opened in November, will contribute more than $18 million to the state’s economy.
