The public is advised to avoid the area around South Mackay, Queensland, as law enforcers look for a man who is believed to have been involved in a shooting.
At around 4:30 pm, the police responded to a report of a woman being shot in Robb Place.
Upon arrival, they found a man with a minor hand injury and a deceased individual.
A state of emergency was then declared at around 5.20 pm.
Areas covered by the emergency include Paradise St, Robb Place, Archibald St, Kindermar St, and Denton St. Residents were asked to stay indoors.
