Tamayo Perry, who was well-known for playing a role in one of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, died after he was attacked by a shark while he was surfing in Hawaii.
According to reports, the 49-year-old was found at Malaekahana Beach at around noon, and he had lost both of his limbs.
After the lifeguards retrieved his body, they were able to return him to the beach using a jetski. Unfortunately, he died on the scene.
Perry had been a lifeguard for a long time, and he also taught surfing lessons in Hawaii.
He had appeared in various movies and TV shows, such as “Blue Crush,” “Charlie’s Angels: Full Of Throttle,” and “On Stranger Tides.”
Perry was known for his achievements in the surfing world, such as his victory in the 1999 Pipe Masters.
The World Surf League released a statement regarding his death. He died due to injuries sustained during a shark attack on Oahu’s East Side.
The statement noted that Perry was a well-known professional surfer and a former competitor of the WSL.
He was also a city lifeguard and a huge part of the community of North Shore.
The organization sends its condolences to his family and friends.
According to his official bio, he had been a professional surfer for over 15 years.
During a certain time, while he was surfing at Pipeline, he got into an accident that almost killed him.
He attributed the incident to someone else’s lack of awareness.
He said it motivated him to share more about surfing safety.
