Today is the day Scott Hollingshed, a Central Coast man, is set to die. He is due to enter a NSW hospital to end his life under the new legislation that allows patients with terminal illnesses to legally end their lives.
However, only those over 18 years old are allowed to partake in this program.
In order to be considered for this program, patients must meet a number of criteria.
One of these is their ability to make decisions on their own. In Scott’s case, he was only diagnosed in June and his condition has rapidly worsened.
Despite the various treatments that he has received, his doctors said that he would not survive.
As his condition worsens, he has decided that he wants to pass with dignity.
He has also posted a final message to his Facebook page, where he talked about his final moments.
In his Facebook post, Scott stated that he was preparing to enter a hospital at 12 o’clock today.
He said that he had just a few hours left to see his fiancée, who he was planning on marrying in the next life.
He also asked his friends to come to his hospital and show him their love. His message has been met with a lot of support from his friends and family.
One of his friends commended him for being brave. He said that Scott showed him how to be a great person.
About two months ago, he started experiencing chest pains while he and his partner were on the water. He said that he knew that something was not right.
After he started coughing up blood, his doctors discovered that he had lung cancer.
Despite his efforts to make the most of his time, his pain became worse.
He said that he couldn’t put on his socks because of his condition.
His missus used to put them on while he was knee and hands in pain.
Scott witnessed his father deteriorate in a hospice, and he decided to take advantage of the new legislation that allowed him to access the VAD program.
He said that he was not scared of dying, and he only worried about his partner.
My mother has been through so much, and this is the only thing that I am afraid of. It will break her.
