From this month, South Australia’s government will start paying its annual cost of living concession to thousands of people.
This payment will double the amount that these individuals previously received. For households that qualify, the cost of living concession will be $255.60.
This benefit is targeted at low-income families, pensioners, and Centrelink recipients.
It will be added to the previously announced $243.90 cost-of-living payment, which was given to over 200,000 households in June.
The government noted that it would spend $36.6 million over four years to double this benefit for self-funded retirees and renters.
This means that these individuals will now receive the same level of support as homeowners.
The cost-of-living concession will be paid directly into the bank accounts of eligible recipients from late August.
This benefit is targeted towards low-income households, pensioners, and those who receive Centrelink payments, such as the Youth Allowance and JobSeeker.
The South Australian government’s website provides a list of all the details about the program’s eligibility criteria.
Those who are interested in applying for the concession can do so by December 31.
If they have already received the payment, they don’t need to apply again.
