Lily King, 18, died after suffering a fatal allergic reaction while she was on holiday with her mum. The student, who was from London, had been celebrating her first year at university and started feeling ill after eating chips and chicken.
According to reports, she and her mum, Aicha, 56, were planning on going out for dinner on the last night of their trip.
Aicha and Lily had previously visited the restaurant where they were supposed to eat.
Upon reaching the establishment, Aicha informed the staff about Lily’s condition. She told them to avoid serving food that contained shellfish, nuts, dairy, fish, and sesame.
According to Michael King, Lily’s father, Aicha was very clear about what her daughter could and could not eat.
However, in a tragic scene, just minutes after eating, the teenager started to struggle to breathe. She then rushed outside to vomit and tried to use her epipen.
As panic set in, the restaurant staff prevented Aicha from leaving without paying the bill. Michael stated that the delay could have potentially saved Lily’s life.
Aicha then broke down in tears as she explained how she asked for a simple meal consisting of chicken and chips that was not mixed with oil.
According to Aicha, the waiter served her a meal consisting of chicken, vegetables, and a sauce that was on the side.
She then told the waiter to take it away as the vegetables looked like prawns. She said she told him three times to be careful because Lily was allergic.
The waiters insisted that the vegetables were not “prawns” and that Lily’s plate was not affected by her allergic reaction.
However, a few minutes after eating a carrot, Lily started to experience an itchy throat and nausea. She then informed her mum about her condition and asked her to use the restroom.
Lily returned and claimed that she could not breathe. Aicha then called an ambulance and went outside to try and help her.
She also carried her Epipen with her. However, she forgot to take her passport with her. She then went back to the restaurant to retrieve it.
According to Aicha, the restaurant staff told her to pay the bill before she leaves.
She then went outside to try and help Lily, who had already used her second EpiPen.
However, despite being surrounded by security guards, she was not able to get help. She then decided to take Lily to the hospital.
Unfortunately, in just 30 minutes, Lily suffered a heart attack and died. She also had a catatonic seizure, which caused her brain to die.
