Expatriate Gabby Snell, who is currently residing in Australia, took to her TikTok page to vent her frustrations with the Australian government over high living expenses.
She noted that she had to pay for insurance, road tolls, and rent.

According to Gabby, she received several bills in the mail every day, and the accumulated costs, which are due in two weeks, gave her a heart attack.
She said that after giving the government her address, she was suddenly informed that she had to pay.
She was visibly upset when she clutched one of the road tolls bills, which had a processing fee of $20.
The first bill was for $29 because she went into a tunnel. She was then notified that she owed another $700 for third-party injury insurance.
She was angry at how she was being asked to pay when she didn’t have the money. She threw the road tolls, as well as the letter demanding injury insurance, across her bedroom.
In her heated argument with the government, Gabby said that she was already broke and that she was worried that she might go into cardiac arrest.
She asked why she was owing the government $800 and why she was being asked to pay when she was already done moving to Australia.
She claimed that she was earning less in Australia than in New Zealand, where she had been employed for six years.
She said that she had to live in a room and that she struggled to meet the monthly payments.
According to her, her rent in Australia is $2,000 a month for her portion, and her monthly rent is $4,000.
She noted that she was worried that she would go into cardiac arrest because of the high living expenses.
She also took a swipe at the government, stating that she used to pay $150 a week in New Zealand, and now she can rent a three-bedroom house with a single room for only $200 a week.
She posted her rant with the message “ok thanks”, which appeared to be a response to the rising cost of living in the country.
According to data released by Statistics New Zealand, the country lost about 60,100 citizens due to migration.
The losses were mainly due to the departure of migrants from Australia and the arrival of individuals from other countries. In the year ended May 2024, the country’s net migration was at 82,800.
