Even though there’s a chance of rain in Melbourne on Sunday, the city is expected to reach 23 degrees Celsius, which would be 4 degrees higher than last year.
The temperature in Brisbane is expected to reach 29 degrees Celsius, which would be 4 degrees higher than in 2023.
Meteorologist Jonathon How said the high temperatures were caused by the dry and hot weather that’s blanketing the country.
According to Mr How, the high temperatures are being experienced across the country, including in Queensland and NSW.
He noted that the heat would continue to affect the country until next week. He said there’s a chance of thunderstorms in the south coast and northern Victoria.
The highest temperatures are expected in South Australia’s Oodnadatta, which is near Coober Pedy.
It’s expected to reach a maximum of 39 degrees Celsius over the weekend. In the city of Adelaide, the temperature is expected to reach 23 degrees on Sunday.
In Hobart, it’s expected to reach 19 degrees Celsius, while Canberra is expected to reach 20 degrees.
In Darwin, the temperature is expected to stay at around 35 degrees Celsius.
