In the latest shake-up of the network’s news presenters, Channel 7 has revealed that Mark Ferguson and Angela Cox will co-host the 6pm bulletin.
The move comes after months of changes and the departure of several prominent personalities.
Ferguson was temporarily replaced by Cox during his absence due to the London Olympics.
His situation prompted speculations about his future at the network.
The timing of his leave also sparked rumors about a cost-cutting measure that was allegedly carried out due to the declining advertising revenue.
For the past four years, Cox has been presenting the Sydney News bulletin with Michael Usher.
She will take over the role of co-host from Ferguson. Before joining Channel 7, she worked as a foreign correspondent for the US Bureau.
Ferguson, on the other hand, has been presenting the 7News Sydney bulletin for 10 years. In February this year, he reached 40 years in the industry.
Ferguson and Cox will officially start their new roles on September 8.
The two will be presenting their first bulletin together after Ferguson wraps up a week of filming a series of reports.
For the past two decades, Cox has been a part of the network’s news team.
Before joining Channel 7, she was a foreign correspondent for the US.
For the past decade, Ferguson has been presenting the nightly news update for the 7News Sydney program.
He will officially start his new role as co-host of the show with Cox on September 8.
In a statement, 7 News’ managing director Lisa De Ceglie praised Ferguson for his long career in the industry.
The appointment of Cox and Ferguson as co-hosts of the 6pm bulletin is expected to provide the program with a new dynamic and innovative approach.
In her statement, Cox said she was excited to work with Ferguson and noted that he has a loyal following.
He is a professional, funny, and a great husband and father, according to Cox.
The way people consume news has drastically changed over the past 10 years, and 7NEWS is no different.
