Up to 108 projects were left in limbo after a major builder in Victoria collapsed.
Customers of Grandeur Homes were reportedly facing a frustrating wait as they were not informed when the projects would be completed.
After 10 customers shared their stories with news.com.Au, the company contacted a prominent defamation lawyer to respond.
On August 21, the company claimed that Grandeur Homes was solvent and did not have financial problems.
However, just nine days later, the company was placed into administration.
Cor Cordis, an insolvency firm, was appointed to oversee the company’s administration.
One of the customers who was left out in the cold was Karishma Seechurn.
She had initially planned on building her dream home with Snowdon Developments before the company went bankrupt.
She then signed with Grandeur Homes in 2023.
She said the situation has become very stressful since Grandeur Homes was the second builder she worked with to go under.
Seechurn said she was mentally exhausted while she was trying to build her dream home, in an interview with news.com.au
She also fears that her house might be affected by the situation.
She said she is worried about the condition of her home due to the scaffolding and the frames, which have been badly weathered.
She was told that the roof tiles would be on site soon, but they never arrived.
This means that the frames will have to be exposed for a long time.
Even though she has insurance, it might take her a couple of months to get the repairs done. She also doesn’t know if the builder will be able to work on the frames.
The bricks have already been laid downstairs, but the roof tiles have not arrived.
