The distraught mother of a baby who passed away at a daycare center in Brisbane was prevented by emergency services from holding her child after rushing to the scene.
Riley Ma, who was reportedly unresponsive, was discovered by paramedics at around 3:30 pm on Monday.
According to a report by The Courier-Mail, the boy’s father was notified by the daycare center through a text message about an incident.
Upon reaching the facility, emergency services tried to revive Riley, but he was declared dead.
A friend of the family noted that the infant had purple lips and was struggling before he died.
The emergency services tried to revive Riley for a while, but they decided not to take him to the hospital.
His mother then rushed to the nearby private daycare facility operated by the family.
While the paramedics were able to allow her husband to hold the baby, the police prevented her from holding him.
According to the boy’s mother, who spoke with the newspaper, the emergency services told her husband that they could give him a cuddle.
However, upon reaching the scene, the police prevented her from holding her son. They also told her that she could not kiss him.
The boy’s mother said that she did not do anything to save him.
She said that she was afraid for her own well-being, and she did not tell her grandmother about the incident.
Riley’s mother said that her grandmother, who is currently going through cancer treatment, is hoping that he will live.
The infant was dropped off at the daycare center at around 7.30 am on Monday. He was reportedly healthy and happy when he was taken.
The police are now investigating the incident and a report will be submitted to the coroner.
