Following two weeks of similar seismic activities in the region, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 hit the Hunter Region of New South Wales on Saturday.

According to the Seismological Research Centre, the quake occurred at 5:58 am and affected areas in Muswellbrook.

About 2,500 customers experienced power outages. All of them were restored by 11 am.

Although water outages were reported, they have since been fixed.

According to Trevor Allen, a seismologist, the earthquake occurred at a depth of about five kilometers.

It was felt across the region, including in areas such as Muswellbrook, Wollongong, and Gulgong.

More than 850 individuals from the community reported feeling the earthquake. He noted that it was felt strongly in Muswellbrook.

According to Geoscience Australia, about a hundred individuals reported having damaged property.

Some of the reports included cracks in the walls and masonry.

In response to the incident, the operations of the Mt Arthur Coal mine were temporarily suspended.

A site-wide inspection was then carried out to assess the damage.

Mine officials initially reported that one of their workers had suffered minor injuries, but it was later revealed that no one was injured at the mine.

Paula, who lives in Berkley Vale, was over 150 kilometers from where the earthquake occurred.

She said it frightened her, and she had to leave her house because it started to shake.

According to Paula, the earthquake lasted for only a couple of seconds.

She said that her house swayed in various places.

Muswellbrook resident Beryl said that her house felt like it had been moved by the earthquake for several seconds.

She said that her bedroom felt like it had been shaken by the earthquake.

She also said that photos on one of the bed tables had fallen over.
