A zoo in China admitted that its two most popular attractions are actually painted Chow Chow dogs.
The fluffy dogs were spotted in a video posted by a visitor to the zoo in Guangdong province.
The video has since gone viral, with over 1.4 million views on the platform Douyin.
The two dogs, which appeared in a photo posted by another user, can be seen inside an enclosure next to an “painted dogs” sign.
The sign refers to them as “panda dogs,” which are pets that look like a panda.
They’re described as being smart, friendly, and cute.
According to the zoo’s manager, surnamed Huang, the dogs are regarded as one of the zoo’s most popular attractions.
She said that these Chow Chow dogs were painted to look like pandas, which is a specialty of the zoo.
This isn’t the first time that dogs in China have been painted to resemble other animals.
In May, an animal sanctuary in eastern China’s Jiangsu province was widely criticized after its visitors spotted that it had painted two dogs white and black to resemble a panda.
The zoo then admitted the mistake.
In 2019, a similar incident occurred in Sichuan when a cafe was accused of offering a service that involved dyeing pets to look like pandas.
