On September 18, Varaich Homes went out of business, leaving many of its customers in a precarious situation.
The company had promised to build “your dream home,” and it was advertising multi-unit developments, custom homes, and knockdown rebuilds.
However, many of its customers were left with unfinished projects.
According to several customers, the company pressured them into paying large sums of money before the work was completed, and it sent aggressive emails demanding that they pay in advance.
A WhatsApp group was created for those who were scammed by the company.
Some of the contractors who were hired to work on the projects were left with nothing. One of them warned others not to engage with the company.
A man who had worked for Varaich Homes in East Doncaster stated that he was still owed money after three months. He had repeatedly called the company and emailed them, but they had not responded.
In a Facebook group, an anonymous user warned others not to work with Varaich Homes, as it had a history of not following through with its promises.
It also reportedly took deposits from its clients and could disappear without explanation.
Ali Nazari, a bricklayer, is threatening legal action against Varaich Homes after the company allegedly told him that it did not want to pay after he had finished working on the project.
A couple who used the company to build their own home claimed that they were suddenly terminated their contract after they failed to pay an additional $13,000 for a permit.
Varaich Homes then cut off all communication with its clients, refusing to refund them even though they had not started working on their projects.
In September, it received a winding-up order, which indicated that a creditor was trying to collect on a debt.
