Several months worth of rain is expected to fall in a few days in Australia, and every state will be affected by downpours during that period.

The northwest of the country is experiencing heavy rainfall, and conditions in WA’s northern region are expected to deteriorate over the next couple of days.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the heavy rainfall is being caused by a tropical moisture flow from the north.

Meteorologist Angus Hines said that the region in WA’s north has experienced unusual rainfall amounts this season. He noted that some areas could see up to 70mm of rain over the next few days.

If the weather conditions do get as bad as they are expected, it’s likely that record-breaking wet weather will occur.

According to Hines, the heavy rainfall could cause some roads to become impassable. He noted that the lack of infrastructure in the region could lead to long travel times.

Areas in the northwest of the country could start experiencing flooding.

On Saturday, the BoM predicted that thunderstorms could affect South East Queensland, including areas such as the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. However, the agency noted that these storms are unlikely to be as severe.

The remnants of the storm from WA are expected to move across the nation over the next couple of days, eventually reaching South Australia and the Northern Territory on Monday.

According to Hines, although the intensity of the rain will diminish in some places, heavy downpours are likely along the WA and Northern Territory’s border.

The rain will begin to move southeast through Adelaide on Tuesday before interacting with a cold front and producing downpours in Tasmania and Victoria.

According to Hines, the heaviest rainfall will occur in the northeast of the country. He also noted that rain will begin to fall in NSW on Wednesday and Friday.

Although the exact amount of rain that will occur over the next couple of days is still unknown, Hines noted that it could be significant.

This weather system is expected to develop over the weekend and could last for several more days.
