Two years following the end of her talk show, Ellen DeGeneres opened up about how the toxic environment she was subjected to affected her mental health.
In her final Netflix special, which premiered on September 24, the 66-year-old comedian discussed the allegations that were made against her in a report by BuzzFeed News.
According to DeGeneres, she is content to be a person instead of a boss or a representative of a brand.
Her talk show, which lasted for 19 seasons, ended in 2022. She also noted that she has Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and is honest about her condition.
During her speech, she opened up about her various characteristics, such as being sensitive and generous. She also stated that she is a strong woman who is always demanding and impatient.
After receiving a standing ovation from her audience, she thanked her fans and declared that she is proud of who she has become.
According to her, what other people think of her is not her prerogative. She asserted that one must remain focused on the truth and not allow others to make judgments about her.
As a result, she credits her career in comedy for making her care what people think of her. If they don’t like her, she goes out.
Over the years, she claimed that she has spent a lot of time trying to make others happy. Thinking about people who think she’s a mean person has consumed her.
She noted that she has gained perspective as she gets older.
