Fitness First, which has been operating in Sydney for over 20 years, is set to close after failing to secure a lease with Westfield.
The company released a statement saying it was disappointed by the decision. Members of the Bondi Platinum branch were notified via email last week that the facility would be closing.
In the email, the company said it was sad to inform its members that the facility at Westfield Bondi Junction would be closing later this year.
Fitness First had hoped to create a new premium facility within the center, but it was not able to secure a suitable site.
The company noted that it was still in talks with Westfield about a possible closure date. Yahoo reported that the company would notify members of the branch once the details of the closure were confirmed.
In response to the situation, the company noted that it had another facility on Spring Street, which is smaller than the one at Westfield.
It assured its members that it would do everything in its power to support them during this difficult time.
The company has 37 facilities in Sydney, 12 of which are in Melbourne, and two more in Canberra.
