The Cafe De Vili in Elizabeth, which was a popular pie shop in Adelaide’s north, has closed its doors. In a notice posted outside the store, it stated that it had ceased trading and was in liquidation.
However, three of the establishment’s other locations in the city remain open.
The company that owns the establishment, Cafe De Vili’s, confirmed the closure of the Elizabeth branch on its Facebook page. It noted that the shop was not related to the Vili’s Bakery.
The franchisee of the establishment, Café 24/7 Pty Ltd, was licensed to operate under the name Cafe De Vili’s Elizabeth.
In its statement, the company said that it was an unrelated entity that did not own or operate the Vili’s Family Bakery.
It pledged to continue providing its customers with high-quality services and products.
In April, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission reported that there had been a 37 percent increase in the number of companies that failed between July 2023 and March 2024.
The food services industry was considered to be the second-highest cause of business failure.
One of the local businesses that closed its doors was the Abbots and Kinney bakery.
Its owner attributed the company’s financial troubles to the rising prices.
