The debate over the right to work from home has started to take place in Australia. Some people were surprised to see two women using their laptops on a beach in Sydney.
Many assumed they were working while they were out.
This comes after several major companies had to rein in the freedoms granted to workers due to backlash.
While it’s perfectly fine to work from the beach, should it be considered unacceptable to set up shop in a cafe while you’re away?
According to Graham Wynn, a recruitment expert, you can kiss your WFH benefits goodbye if you’re caught working remotely.
He noted that if an employer says they’ll allow you to work from home, you’ll have to trust them and take on more responsibility.
According to Lauren, a lifestyle and career coach, if employees decide to use the beach or the city as their base of operations, their employers will consider revoking their privileges.
She shared two instances in Sydney where people were using their laptops outdoors.
One of the images showed two women at Balmoral beach, while the other captured two individuals at Bondi.
Since the people in the videos didn’t seem to be working, they have been asked to confirm if they were doing anything other than studying.
One of the women claimed on her social media account that she was merely doing her university work.
Nonetheless, it highlighted the fact that some individuals who work remotely aren’t doing so at home.
