TikTok star Rachel Yaffe, who was 27 years old when she died, had been diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer. She was only 20 when she was told about her condition.
Around 200 individuals in the world are diagnosed with this type of cancer annually.
After she was diagnosed with the rare disease, Yaffe started sharing her story on her social media accounts. She eventually reached over 60,000 followers on TikTok and Instagram.
On October 11, her obituary noted that she died due to her illness. Prior to her death, she posted a message on her social media accounts about how she was feeling following her radiation treatment.
In her post, Yaffe shared a video of herself with her friends and family, where she talked about how finding the little joys in life helped her stay motivated.
The video was widely shared by her fans following her death. Some of them expressed their condolences and said that she deserved to live longer.
She stated in an earlier video that she was only 20 when, during a visit to a doctor, she learned that she had liver cancer. She noted that she initially thought she was allergic to gluten.
After going to a specialist, she was informed that a 20cm tumor had been discovered in her liver, and she had Stage Four cancer.
Although the tumor was removed, the cancer returned a couple of months later and spread to her lungs and liver.
She was survived by her parents, Wayne and Linda Yaffe, as well as her siblings, Jordan and Jessica.
