The Commonwealth Bank of Australia has refunded its customers after a technical issue caused some of their payments to be duplicated.
The bank immediately fixed the issue and apologized to its customers. Some of the affected individuals had overdrawn accounts.
According to the bank, there were a number of people who experienced duplicated payments within the app.
It noted that it fixed the issue and refunded the affected individuals by 5.30 pm on Sunday.
The bank said that it was aware of the issue and that some of its customers were seeing duplicated transactions.
The bank noted that it was working on the issue and that it would take the necessary steps to resolve it as soon as possible. Many of its customers expressed their frustration on social media.
The bank also said that it had already resolved an earlier issue involving the duplicated transactions.
A spokesperson for the bank noted that the process to reverse the duplicated transactions had been completed and that the fees that customers were charged would be refunded.
The bank also thanked its customers for their patience and said that it would continue to encourage them to be aware of scam activity.
The bank noted that it would never ask for personal information such as a person’s NetBank Client ID or password in an email or text message.
It also said that it would never ask for this type of information over the phone.
