Two light planes collided and crashed in Sydney’s southwest on Saturday morning, killing three individuals.
NSW Police stated that they responded to reports of a plane crash in Belimbla Park at around 11.50 am. It was then confirmed that three men died in the incident.
A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance stated that two people were aboard one of the planes when it crashed.
According to Timothy Calman, an acting superintendent from Camden, the incident was very distressing for first responders.
He noted that one of the aircraft carrying the two individuals caught on fire upon impact, and it’s clear that the two sites of the crash would have been too damaged to survive.
According to Calman, the damage at the crash site indicated that the first plane came down immediately. Witnesses also reported seeing debris flying from the sky.
The police believe that the plane that was carrying two individuals was a Cessna 182.
The identities of the two individuals onboard the plane remain unclear. The pilot of the second plane also died when the aircraft crashed about a kilometer away from the first crash site.
The police believe that he was flying a plane that was similar to the Jabiru Ultralight model.
The Transport Safety Bureau of Australia will look into the incident to determine the cause of the crash. One of the planes crashed near Yallah St.
The other crashed in Bellimba Park. The NSW Police stated in a statement that they responded to the reports of a plane crash.
In response to the incident, the emergency services released a statement to the public, asking people to avoid the area around Oakdale.
The statement did not provide any additional details about the incident.
