A New Era for Robert Irwin
It’s hard to believe it’s been two and a half years since Robert Irwin’s stunning glow-up took the world by storm.
At just 18, he ditched his signature khakis for a fashion shoot with Stellar, and the rest, as they say, is history. The cover shoot, which went viral, marked a turning point in Irwin’s life, transforming him from adorable boy to handsome leading man.
“I think it was one of the first times that Australia – and the world, really – got to see Robert out of khakis,” Irwin says, humbly acknowledging the impact of the shoot. “It started a new era for me, for my life.”
From Wildlife Conservation to Prime Time TV
Fast-forward to today, and Irwin has not only become a sex symbol but has also made a name for himself in prime time TV. He’s replaced Dr. Chris Brown as Julia Morris’s co-host on Network 10’s reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and has even scored his first Gold Logie nomination.
“It’s live TV, and it’s the biggest adrenaline rush ever,” Irwin tells Stellar. “Life is about pushing yourself and having fun. And getting to really delve into this experience alongside Julia has been such a gift. I’ve learnt a lot.”
A Passion for the Arts
But Irwin’s interests extend far beyond TV and wildlife conservation. He’s a self-confessed arts lover, with a passion for photography, painting, and music. Fashion, to him, is a visual representation of where he’s at in life.
“I love the arts, I love photography, I love painting, I love music,” he explains. “And to me, fashion is part of that. It’s a visual representation of yourself and where you’re at in your life.”
Robert Irwin 3.0: Taking Risks and Pursuing Passions
As he celebrates his 21st birthday, Irwin is keen to explore new territories. He’s begun learning the guitar, ukulele, and even has the banjo in his sights. And, surprise, surprise, he’s written his own songs!
“I’ve never told anyone this, but I have written stuff,” he confesses. “I’ve written little bits and bobs. I love writing music and putting songs together with different chords. And I’ve written some stuff that I played for a very small group of people who liked it.”
Daniel Craig, Eat Your Heart Out
And if that’s not enough, Irwin has even been touted as a potential replacement for Daniel Craig in the next James Bond movie. He jokes about preferring his “Bundaberg Ginger Beer shaken not stirred,” but is dead serious about his aspirations in the acting world.
“One of those people [who suggested me for Bond] was Jasin Boland, who is the photographer for the 007 films with Daniel Craig,” Irwin tells Stellar. “And when he commented, I was like: ‘Oh, hang on … [maybe]?’ To be honest, I’ve always loved the idea of getting into acting and doing drama.”
Grabbing Life with Both Hands
Irwin’s zest for life is infectious, and he’s determined to make the most of every moment. He credits his father Steve Irwin’s legacy for instilling in him the importance of living life to the fullest.
“I don’t want to get to the end of my life and say, ‘I wish I’d done …’ I want to have done it all,” he says, smiling.
Promoting Positivity and Mental Health Awareness
But Irwin’s not just looking to have fun; he’s eager to use his fame to promote causes close to his heart. Mental health awareness is high on his agenda, and he encourages youngsters to spend more time outdoors rather than online.
“As I’ve grown up, I’ve wanted to tackle bigger issues,” he explains. “In my work as an environmental advocate, I wanted to sort of step out and start talking about big issues like climate change through social media and my work in front of and behind the camera.”
With his enthusiasm, energy, and commitment to making a difference, Robert Irwin is sure to continue inspiring fans around the world.
