A devastating three-vehicle crash in Melbourne has left one person dead and multiple cars severely damaged.
The incident occurred on Thursday night at the intersection of Dohertys Rd and Fitzgerald Rd, leaving a trail of destruction and raising concerns about road safety.
What Happened
The crash involved two moving cars – a Black Ford Ranger and a Silver Mitsubishi – which collided at 10.10pm.
The Ford Ranger, traveling east on Fitzgerald Rd, crashed into the Mitsubishi, which was heading south on Dohertys Rd.
The impact was so severe that the Ford Ranger then smashed into a traffic pole and a stationary grey Volkswagen, leaving it almost unrecognizable.
Victim Identified
Tragically, the rear passenger of the Ford Ranger died at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been formally released yet.
Fortunately, the sole occupants of the Mitsubishi and the Volkswagen escaped the crash without any injuries.
Investigation Underway
The police are currently investigating the incident and urging drivers to avoid the area during morning peak hour.
They are also calling on witnesses, people with information, or those with dashcam footage to come forward and contact them.
Rising Road Toll
This fatal crash marks the 41st life lost on Victorian roads this year, a concerning increase from the 32 lives lost at this time last year.
